Lake Tawakoni RV
Note: During Winter season, no Check-Ins are permitted after 6:30PM.
Lake Tawakoni is the major water source for the city of Dallas. It is also a major area lake for fishing and boating. The property the preserve sits on is owned by Sabine River Authority and any improvements we make have to be approved by them. We have 6 miles of shoreline and many waterfront sites w/full hook-ups. We have a 20-slip marina in the main part of the park and a 20-slip covered marina on the South Side. The South Side is separate from the main part of the property, and has mostly non-sewer sites. It is preferred by many fishing members because of the good crappie and catfish fishing.
Lake Tawakoni is in a rural part of the state, about 65 miles east
of Dallas and 30 miles from Greenville, the closest large town. We are about 50 miles north of Tyler and 9 miles from Emory, the nearest town of any size. Emory has cafes, grocery stores, clinics and drug stores. The biggest attraction in the area is First Monday at Canton, TX., the largest flea market in the world. People come from all over the state to visit Canton the first week of each month.
We are in Rains County, the bald eagle capital of Texas, and bird watching is another very popular activity our members come here for. Lake Tawakoni is known for its striped bass, sand bass, catfish and crappie fishing and is very popular with the Dallas area campers.
